Can’t wait for spring? Me either. As a Chester County resident, I love watching this beautiful region come back to life every year around this time. Greens and yellows replace brown and grays, the sun lingers a bit longer every day, and we shake off the remaining snowflakes and shivers.
It’s almost time to head outside and explore all of the local events and activities in store in the coming months. From adult Easter egg hunts to a neighborhood paint party, I’ve rounded up 13 fun and fabulous ways to enjoy Chester County this spring. Enjoy!
The Return of the Beer Gardens
Chester County has a formidable craft brew scene, and its suburban beer gardens are about to burst out of hibernation. Some of my favorites are in places you’d least expect: corporate parks, rehabbed garages, and repurposed warehouses. They all share a friendly community feel, rustic charm, and an artisanal approach to beer. My go-to’s are Levante Brewing Company in West Chester and The Creamery in Kennett Square. They both offer lawn games, live music, rotating food trucks, delicious beer and, pet & kid-friendly bliss!

Up on the Roof
Imagine dining in the open air with 360 sunset views over a charming historic city. That’s Up on the Roof, an annual fundraiser held in West Chester for the beautification of its historic downtown. Cocktails, appetizers, dinner, and dancing all on the top floor of the Chestnut Street garage. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience. Maybe I’ll see you there!

Easter Egg Hunts for Kids and Grownups
Easter egg hunts aren’t just for children anymore - at least not in Chester County. The Chaddsford Winery hosts its annual Adults-Only Easter Egg Hunt this April 8, 9 and 15. Armed with a glass of rosé, cabernet or chardonnay, set out on the winery grounds to search for eggs filled with prizes like tasting passes and Flyers tickets.
For the kiddos, head to Everhart Park on April 8 for the annual Easter Egg Hunt bonanza with countless kids hunting for countless eggs at 10 a.m. sharp.

First Friday Spring Gallery Walk
On Friday, May 4th, West Chester shuts off its metered parking and opens its doors for an intriguing (and free!) gallery walk. Meander in and out of the many art galleries tucked throughout the borough while enjoying complimentary snacks and beverages. Meet local artists and gallery owners, and maybe find the perfect piece of art to hang in your home!

Michoacana & Tropical Homemade Ice Cream Reopen
These treasured local ice cream parlors serve some of the best, homemade ice cream I’ve ever had. And besides the classic American flavor selection, you’ll find unusual, remarkably decadent flavors like rice pudding, avocado, toasted coconut, and corn. Sprinkle some chile powder on top for an over-the-top savory~sweet combo you have to taste to understand. Michoacana in Kennett Square and Tropical Homemade in West Chester can’t reopen soon enough!
Open House Season
With new listings in full effect, spring is the perfect season for self-guided open-house tours. Whether you’re actively seeking your next home or just love taking in design and architecture, open houses provide the perfect Sunday Funday activity. Make sure you stop by some of mine to say hello!
May Day Festival of the Arts
Watch Everhart Park transform into a crafty little village on Sunday, May 6th as vendors line the walkways of the shaded grounds to sell their art and handmade products at the annual May Day Festival of the Arts. A moon bounce keeps the kids happy, and plenty of food trucks make it a one-stop destination for a perfect Sunday afternoon.
Al Fresco Dining
Spring weather makes dining out even better. Restaurants like Four Dogs Tavern and Roots Cafe debut their charming patios, and the streets of West Chester and Kennett Square are lined with outdoor seating. I personally can’t wait for Jaco to reopen its sidewalk service window for quick smoothies and tacos to go, as well as the many warm weather, block-party style festivities just on the horizon.

Neighborhood Paint Party at Brandywine Ace
Brandywine Ace Pet & Farm in Pocopson will host its annual Neighborhood Paint Party on Saturday, March 24th. At this huge sale get BOGO cans of paint and plenty of free painting advice! It’s the perfect opportunity to refresh the colors of your home, inside and out.
Garage Sale Season
If Sunday afternoons are for open houses, Saturday mornings are for garage sales! Chester County is great for quirky and historical finds from furniture to art to jewelry and collectibles. Use websites like Yard Sale Search and Garage Sale Finder to map out your route ahead of time. Or, for one-stop-shopping and great vintage and upcycled finds, head to the West Chester Vintage Garage Sale in the Chestnut Street Parking Garage on Friday, May 4th.
After a long winter indoors, we love taking our daughter and dogs to the many great parks in the area. There are 12 in the borough itself! Our Boston Terriers Javi and Finn are partial to Everhart Park’s huge field while our toddler Cami loves Marshall Square Park’s new and improved playground. My favorites are Ollie’s Owls Nature Playground, nestled into the wooded ChesLen Preserve and the Cherry Blossom blooms that fill Everhart for a week or two every spring before snowing pink petals all over the ground.

Super Sunday, held on June 3rd along Gay and Market streets in downtown West Chester offers a day chock full of food, entertainment, food, crafts, and more food. Rotating bands churn out vibes of all kinds while local businesses and restaurants showcase and sell their goods. I personally love sampling the food trucks that line the streets and stopping for the occasional beer along the way.
WC Growers Market Resumes
Starting in May, the wonderful West Chester Growers Market resumes its weekly schedule. Find all of your week’s produce, meats and grains here, and so much more. Lizzie’s Kitchen sells tantalizing whoopie pies and chocolate chip cookies while Applied Climatology offers locally grown plants of all varieties with expert advice on helping them bloom. The WC Growers Market is a refreshing, healthy way to kick off every springtime weekend!
Chester County has so much to offer, year round, with cozy white winters and enchanting golden summers. But I must say springtime is my favorite - green, fresh, and full of possibilities.
